Il Hagar Interactive Museum System
A full digital revamp: room-based tablet experiences, a centralized signage platform, and modern infrastructure that's easier to run and update.
Overview
Il Hagar's museum experience needed to feel modern, interactive, and consistent across rooms. The project wasn't just "a new app" — it was a coordinated upgrade across infrastructure, tablets, TV displays, and an easy way for staff to keep content fresh.
The Revamp
The solution started with a full technology refresh: replacing outdated servers, simplifying how content is delivered, and creating new apps designed around the atmosphere of each room.
Room Tablet Apps
Each room received a dedicated tablet application, tailored to the exhibit theme. The goal was a touch-first experience that feels native to the room, rather than a generic kiosk UI.
Joseph Vella Room
The Joseph Vella room focuses on music, so we built an interactive catalog of recordings. Visitors can browse tracks and press a button to play music on the room speakers—turning the tablet into part of the exhibit, not just a label.
TV + Signage Control
Beyond tablets, we built a Raspberry Pi based system that connects to the museum's TV units. It can run slides, videos, and image rotations reliably, while keeping setup simple and consistent across displays.
Remote Management
Displays are controlled from a central PC, and can also be managed from any device—even off-site—using an internet connection. This makes content updates faster and avoids manual device-by-device maintenance.
IOT Audio Integration
We used IOT technology for this experience using the DW01 module. With the sound integrated directly in the box, the tablet triggers a request to it for seamless playback.
